A lámpada perpetua foi un agasallo á Revista de Creación Literaria e Cultura Casa da Gramática, editada polo Instituto de Ensino Secundario Virxe do Mar, de Noia. Editáronse 10 exemplares numerados en romanos, que quedaron en propiedade do autor; outros 50 numerados e asinados polo autor, e outros  300 sen asinar que se distribuíron conxuntamente co número 18 da revista. O poemario está escrito como homenaxe a Antón Avilés de Taramancos, gran amigo de Álvarez Torneiro e autor ao que se lle dedicou o Día das Letras Galegas de 2003. A lámpada perpetua ten a especial característica de estar ilustrado polo autor, caso único en toda a súa  traxectoria.
